Patch 0.24.0 Release Notes
The below release notes contain a mixture of changes / fixes following beta 2.5 as well as highlighting key new content that may be known but was not within the level 1 - 45 bracket we used for previous betas.
For prior changes from Beta 2.5 please see here.
Key Notes:
- For the purposes of this beta many end-game recipes, items and reputation vendor contents have been intentionally disabled.
- There are around 60 known bugs remaining unsquashed from Beta 2.5 focused mostly around classes, if you see an issue you feel you've already reported you are welcome to ignore it or re-report it.
Player
- The Racial Knowledge system is now available for testing with all relevant quests. Please note, some spell visuals / names may not yet have been updated. Shortened cooldown during beta phase. For those who are unfamiliar, Racial Knowledge is a simple system allowing you, as a player, to uncover how to replicate the Racial abilities from another race across class and faction boundaries, allowing the freedom to tailor your character as you see fit. These are acquired through lore-related quests available exclusively at max level, designed for solo play.
- Many spells that were originally available > level 60 in TBC have received appropriate nerfs to fit between levels 50 -> 60.
- Fixed an issue with many AP scalings not applying to spells.
- Pets should no longer despawn when mounting and should instead enter an inactive state.
- Crushing Blows should now behave as they did in TBC.
- Spells should no longer incorrectly trigger the 5 second rule if they have no mana cost.
- Partial resistances have been changed to be a hybrid between Classic and Wrath of the Lich King. Resistances now work as such:
- Resistances cap at the original Classic cap of Caster Level * 5, this means the resistance cap at level 60 vs a skull level boss is 315. Every point beyond 315 is the same as being at 315.
- The resistance points up to the amount equal to 20% of your cap are now slightly more effective. At level 60 vs a skull level boss this is up to 63 resistance. This change is meant to make lower resistance values more appealing, without changing the overall balance of high end resistances. For example, at 25 points of Resistance in Classic at level 60 vs a skull level boss you had an average resist of 5.95%. Now on Epoch that equates to 6.71%.
- After that 63rd resistance point, it now follows the logic used in Classic for calculating your average resist.
- Partial resists are dealt in increments of 10%. You can partially resist 0%, 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, 50%, 60%, 70%, or 80% of an attack, based on your resistance. 80% was not possible in Wrath of the Lich King due to heavier diminishing returns on the stat, but it is possible here. You will also always partially resist close to your average resist value, which makes resist damage much less RNG than in Classic.
- Spell ranks obtained from AQ20 and spells / ranks obtained from world drops or specific bosses have been removed from class trainers and verified to exist as drops.
- The Gnome racial ability Escape Artist now functions properly.
- All new Race / Class combos added now have blizzlike stats taking into account their racial bases stats and the modifiers applied by class.
- It is now possible to acquire a Crossbow Specialisation from quests to be found in the world.

- Slow can now be cast on creatures that are immune to movement impairing effects. When this happens, slow will only apply the attack speed and casting speed reductions, and Slow will be placed on a 2 minute cooldown. This cooldown does not trigger if you cast Slow on a target that can be affected by movement impairing effects.

- Dual-Wield Specialization has been renamed to Weapon Specialization and now works regardless of what weapon you are holding.
- Windfury Weapon now has a 36% chance to proc, up from 20%. This does not affect Windfury Totem. - Much like his The Burning Crusade incarnation Old Man Barlo will be providing a pool of random daily quests sending you out to zones across the world to fish up a variety of critters. However this comes with one key difference, volume. In The Burning Crusade Old Man Barlo only had a handful of zones he could send you to. Here on Project Epoch that pool has been radically expanded to more than 30 zones across the Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor.
- The rewards associated with Old Man Barlo's quests mirror those familiar from The Burning Crusade but have undergone retuning to fit within the Vanilla world.
Reputations
- The Raptor Mount has been replaced with a companion pet for the Revantusk Tribe reputation, this is to keep it in line with the Alliance counterpart.
- The Smoywood Pastures goblins have moved into Ratchet, offering adventurers a way to raise their reputation with this faction. Designed to be similar to the original Winterspring Frostsaber grind, players should expect long hours and hard work to reach exalted. Giving players a variety of ways to increase reputation on this grind is important, which is why there are three categories of quests: Solo, Group, and PvP. Each category is further divided into 5-6 quests, one of which will randomly be chosen to be available as a repeatable quest each day. Essentially, each day you will have 1 quest from each category, and every day the quests will change.
- A new end game reputation is available in Silithus, Valor's Expedition. Valor's Expedition is a central hub for level 60 activities at launch within Silithus, housing an all new reputation where you will build knowledge about the encroaching Aqir and Twilight's Hammer that are roaming through these sandy wastes, help members of the Cenarion Circle led expedition, and much more. Gaining favour with the Valor's Expedition is accomplished primarily through the means of rotating groups of daily quests, ensuring that for every day of the week you and your allies have a bold new adventure ahead of you. Your reward for these endeavours are all new recipes, items, mounts, consumables and plenty more to elaborate on at a future date.
- The Wintersaber Reputation has received a ground up rework with all new quests and path to earning this mount.
- The Venomhide Ravasaur Reputation has been enabled and has received a ground up rework with all new quests and path to earning this mount.
